Vegan Summer Capsule Wardrobe

One of the most freeing things I’ve ever done is to create a capsule wardrobe.  In the morning when I’m rushing to finish my makeup as I play beat-the-clock, I’m so grateful that I can literally pull anything from my closet, in the last moments of panic, and throw them onto my body without needing any time in front of the mirror.

Since I change it up slightly each season, to accommodate the weather, below is my summer wardrobe.  All vegan.  All easy.

^^ I often layer one of these thin cardis, or the plaid, for sun protection. They’re also helpful in rooms with cranked up A/C and for evenings.

*Create a Pinterest board and add pics of existing pieces from your wardrobe that are in good condition and flatter your body.  This will help you to get a better visual than simply laying them all out on your bed.  You’ll be able to quickly identify what pieces work best together.

*Delete and donate pieces that don’t fit your needs.

*Acquire new pieces to fill in gaps.  Before purchasing, pin them to your board and give it a two day cool down period to be sure they work with your other items.

*Be prepared to dedicate a few hours to this process over the course of a couple of weeks.  A few minutes here and there is all it takes.

*Replace damaged/worn/dated items twice per year. Once before the cold season and once before the warm season.  This should be a quick process only taking an hour or so to place your online orders.

*Increase longevity of your capsule by…

…changing into loungewear when returning home

…wearing an apron for tasks such as washing dishes, cleaning, preparing food, crafts and DIY

…wearing items multiple times before washing, unless they are soiled.

…investing in higher quality items and caring for them.  (Owning less clothing means you can spend a bit more on each piece.)

*Each day that you get dressed, reach your hands blindly into your closet and grab whatever your hand lands on because everything already coordinates.

*You’re going to love how much time you’ll save.  Time that can be focused on important things, rather than feeling bad that a skirt you’re hanging onto doesn’t fit, or that you don’t know what sweater to pair with your favorite trousers.

  1. love this. I needed this inspiration. my closet (and mountainous middle of room piles that cant fit in the closet) need a major overhaul. my whole LIFE “feels” in disarray just because of my disorganization.
way too many clothes I never wear/out of sight =out of mind.
I know I have pieces such as you show here. I am sure I have them all.
my husband is on me everyday to do this. I just needed to SEE the light at the end of the tunnel or it all felt hopeless.
I have started the “donate” box was full quick!
my biggest problem as im sorting through items is “I MIGHT wear this again/one day”
when the truth is,if its been years and I haven’t.. why would I? will I?
its like a hoarders mindset and with my OCD and clutter issues I need simple simple simple!
my faves are gray pants and lavender/purple tops and you have those.:)
wow id love a JOB where all that can be worn! well I used to have one like that. casual/semi casual workplace.
my life wont improve until my space does. something I have to face.
I am getting older now so.. time to simplify and relax more.I love your wardrobe, you will look cute and feminine always!:)

    Thank you!
