Daiya Farmhouse Blocks review

This past fall, Daiya released their Farmhouse Block in 3 flavors – Monterey Jack, Medium Cheddar and Jalepeno Havarti.  They immediately made my favorites list.

Daiya Cheddar

What is so unique about this cruelty-free cheese is the texture.  The Farmhouse Block is firm like hard dairy cheeses.  Something that was missing from the vegan cheesescape.

Daiya Cheddar Cut
^^ It was fun to have an excuse to break out the cheese knives.

^^ See how perfect it is as part of a vegan cheeseboard. Ideal for the holidays and entertaining. I loved being able to cube up the cheddar and use food picks.

FLAVOR BREAKDOWN

Monterey Jack – Smooth with a bit of tang.  Creamy and delicious.  Just as yummy sliced up on a cracker, with some kalamata olive tapanede, as melted on a vegan Philly cheese steak.

Medium Cheddar – A fine traditional sharp cheddar.  It brought back the sensory memory of eating Lunchables as a child.  Amazing with some apple cider or on a vegan turk’y sammie.

Jalepeno Havarti – Zesty spice.  Perfect to stuff into vegan enchiladas or combine with cheddar to melt on nachos.  Wrap it in a slice of roasted red pepper and enjoy on a pita triangle.

^^ For variety, I cut the Jalapeno Havarti into a round and topped with an acorn-shaped cheese cut-out. I cubed the cheddar and added food-picks. For the Monterey Jack, I cut into a triangular wedge and topped with acorn and oak leaf-shaped cheese cut-outs. It was fun and festive!
