Review: Ben & Jerry’s Vegan Ice Cream

Ben & Jerry’s just released their line of four vegan ice creams made with Almond Milk.

The display at the store looked like a snowstorm was about to hit.  Totally wiped out.  These three were literally the last ones there.

We weren’t able to get our hands on the P.B. & Cookies flavor.  It was really exciting because it means that loads of people made the compassionate choice to buy cruelty-free, and save animals from needless suffering.

Let’s get to the tastin’…

All three are creamy and comparable to dairy ice cream.  I love most vegan ice creams and am thrilled to have Ben & Jerry’s as another option.

^^COFFEE CARAMEL FUDGE

Those are three of the tastiest words.  It has an upfront coffee flavor, sweet swirly caramel pockets and amazing fudge chunks.  I could see easily losing myself in the pint with a spoon, but it would pair well with chocolate cake or with an after dinner coffee.

This would also be my pick for the holiday season.  The ideal treat for snuggling up under a cozy sweater blanket in front of the fire to watch movies .

^^CHOCOLATE FUDGE BROWNIE

Deep dark chocolate with a restrained level of sweet.  The brownie chunks are the same as the original B&J’s, as they are already vegan.

This one is the most versatile and a good base for a sundae, as a layer in an ice cream cake or in a milkshake.  It holds together really well so would be good in a cone too.

It’s hard to believe I’m saying this, but this ice cream somehow improves on chocolate, which is a hard task. Without a doubt, a year-round freezer staple.  Just knowing it’s on call would make the crumbiest day at work just a little more bearable.

^^CHUNKY MONKEY

The natural banana flavor is so authentic that this ice cream evokes memories of eating a banana cream pie.  Sweet but not overpowering.  Banana is a familiar flavor for we vegans, as we use bananas to cream up our smoothies and bind together baked goods.

The chocolate chips are crisp and plentiful.  The walnuts are small and toasted so they also stay firm.  This one would make awesome milkshakes, banana splits and melty topping for a slice of vanilla cake.

Perfect for a warm early summer afternoon sitting on a dock, with your feet in the water, and texting your crush.
